8. Do you look back on your school days with fondness? What was your favourite subject to learn?

I don't have very many good feelings about school. I had some good teachers but had very few friends. I was so shy. It was really sad. I had things going on in my life that I couldn't get away from. When I met my husband it was like the first person I could ever talk to. I'm very grateful for his help. Because of his guidance, I got some great therapy. I really came out of my shell. I'm glad I met my hubby at school but I was glad to be done with it. Well, this was pretty boring. 😂

Challenge #2: Pets of Fandom
Loosely defined! Post about your pets, pets from your canon, anything you want!

I don't have any pets of my own. Dogs are cute, but ever since I was a kid, I was more into cats. However, my parents didn't want a pet and to be honest, I'm self aware enough to know that I wouldn't be able to take care of one. The first apartment we lived in when we moved to California was nice in the sense that there were other people with pets my sister and I could play with. Our upstairs neighbor had four cats and two dogs! They were all very sweet.

My favorite fictional pet is definitely Salem from Sabrina The Teenage Witch. That sarcastic cat was really funny and definitely one of the best parts of the show. I also have a soft spot for Luna from Sailor Moon. I watched Homeward Bound way too many times and I love all three of them but Sassy was the best.

And of course, Shelby from Smallville (see icon). That dog was adorable and I was always happy when they let him pop in. He literally saved Clark's life! And he had good taste, because he liked Lois right away, even when Lois was ... apprehensive. My sister still calls him "Clarkie" though!

As far as my current fandom goes, I'm not trying to fall into stereotypes but I do stand by the belief that they should let Buck get a dog (so close in s8!) and Eddie get a cat. It would be adorable. :)

I admit I first started watching this series because I loved Phil Coulson in the MCU.

And I admit the first eps of the series are not my favorite because they had too much monster/strange thing of the week spiel but when they hit the Clairvoyant storyline and especially Season 1 Ep 10 "The Bridge" where they started hitting their stride, I started liking the series more. The tie in story to Captain America: The Winter Soldier sealed the deal and I was hooked on the series from there on out.

The very first relationship I loved on the series was the Dad/Daughter relationship between Coulson and (Skye) Daisy because he really was her Dad in every way that counted but blood.

I think towards the end of S1 and into S2 is when I started falling in love with the other characters.

Wow they're so young in the ep I am watching now, especially Fitz!

ETA: I took what I wrote here and expanded on it for my first Fannish 50 entry HERE!

Challenge #4: Rec Your Last Page

Any website that you like, be it fanfiction, art, social media, or something a bit more eccentric!

Not including checking my email, the last pages I delved into were the comment pages of Snowflakes' challenge #3.

I've been making an effort to read everyone's entries and sprinkling comments here and there. So, I poured a cup of coffee and read some of the latest comments this morning. Would I recommend it? Hell, yes.

We're a worldwide, vast community made up of creative, opinionated individuals, yet we all have fandom in common.

Today, it led me to learning a little bit about Twi'leks. (It was referenced in a comment, and my Star Wars knowledge is pitiful, so naturally I had to look it up.)

7. In 1803, Henri Herz, an Austrian pianist and composer, was born in Vienna, Austria. Have you ever learned the piano? If not, would you like to?

I took lessons for a year with my brother Dan. After the year he was playing classical music and played the organ at the church on Sundays. I on the other hand could play one piece called the spider dance. Our teacher told my mom I just didn't have it. It took me a year to play one song. Let that sink in. And you would think I would dislike my brother for his talent, but I worshiped him. He was like an angel. He worked with me for a year on singing lessons. He told me my voice was like an angel. I realized that people do certain things well and others not at all. We sang together for the next eight years. Best time of my life. It all started with the piano lessons. Now aren't you glad you read this? 😂😂 oh, I still talk to him once a month for two hours. We're very close. This is a pic of him. He's a religious artist and the stain glasses window behind him is one of the many in his house. His home is gorgeous.

The actual-play audio drama podcast [youtube.com profile] worldsbeyondnumber just started a short science fiction campaign, Flight of the Icaron, and the first episode knocked it out of the park.

Official Summary:
This is the maiden voyage of the Icaron - Earth’s first S-Class Battle Station. This demonstration flight has been certified as routine by all relevant oversight bodies. Systems have been tested, personnel vetted, and contingencies reviewed. Passengers are reminded that the Icaron represents the highest standard of planetary defense engineering.

Please remain seated.

We have Aabria Iyengar as space mining mogul Kiki Davis, Brennan Lee Mulligan as engineer and father Andrei Dalca, and Erika Ishii as troubled young tragedy survivor Vera "Fishcakes" Lam—with Lou Wilson as GM, bringing some top-notch narration and NPC work that immediately has this feeling like a fully fledged universe full of characters with long histories and established relationships. There's a weight and rootedness to the worldbuilding and plot, but there's also still plenty of humour, especially in a recurring bit about trying to heist the good herbed Cheddar from a boring government party. I'm hooked, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Challenge #1:
The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.

I'm svgurl. I'm in my 30s, and have been actively part of fandom on and off since 2007, when I created my LJ. The SV part of my username stands for Smallville, which was my original fandom and I was very mono fandom for years.

My profile is up to date and gives a little background history and the fandoms/ships I'm interested in. I'm focused on 9-1-1/Buddie these days, but I still love MCU, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, and past favorites do come up from time to time.

I can be found on various places:

Tumblr: [tumblr.com profile] svgurl410
Discord: svgurl

I mod:
[community profile] comment_bingo: a bingo challenge that promotes commenting on other fanworks using the provided prompts
[community profile] rarefemslashexchange: a rare f/f fandom exchange that runs once a year

This is my 5th year participating in the Snowflake Challenge and I really love the way it gives everyone a chance to interact with people that you normally wouldn't. I am not comfortable with just going to someone's journal and talk to them out of the blue, so it's nice that this gives you a chance to do just that. I am looking forward to doing more of that and meet more people on here as well! :)

6. In 1709 The Great Frost began during the night, a sudden cold snap that remains Europe's coldest ever winter. What temperature will it reach today where you live?

I wouldn't do well with a cold snap. I'm still wearing short sleeves and flip-flops. The temperature today was 65° F. But we have five days coming up with rain and mid-fifties. That's winter for us. Then it pops to mid 60s. I don't like the rain and the cold. No flip-flops tomorrow. Brrrrr. We need the rain, so I can't complain. (I just did) 😂😂 I'm in Arizona, by the way.

Has anyone seen the movie Rental Family, with Brendan Fraser? It's not streaming until the end of February. No one wants to go with me. (I can't drive) My hubby will go if I talk him into it.
