You now have only a day left to finish your work(s)! ...Is what I should be saying, BUT WAIT! How about a little surprise extension? I'll keep the AO3 collection open for submissions until an hour before reveals — it's not much, but it still gives you an extra day if you need it. (If you're here via bethefirst then this surprise extension probably won't be much of a surprise, but I hope it's welcome nonetheless ;D)

Hi there, and welcome to the Hungry Ghost Title Challenge!

This is a low-pressure challenge that works in the following way: When you sign up you'll receive a title randomly picked from an old anthology horror series. You then have to create a work of any type that's inspired by and has that title.

Titles will be taken from the following anthology series:

Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955)
Hammer House Of Horror (1960)
Night Gallery (1969)
Tales From The Crypt (1989)
Tales Of The Unexpected (1977)
The Veil (1958)
The Outer Limits (1963)
Thriller (1960)
Twilight Zone (1959)

If you have a preference for one of these, please say so in your sign-up! Otherwise I will randomly pick both the series and the episode/title.

If the title you receive doesn't do anything for you, just ask for another! You can also ask for more titles if you'd like to create multiple works.

The deadline to submit your works to the AO3 collection is at 23.59 GMT on the 24th of August. It will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 26th of August, the end of the traditional ghost month, where people will float water lanterns to help guide the ghosts back to the underworld.
